Major Jovan Campbell currently oversees Operations. Before his current assignment, he served as the Midnights Captain.
During his tenure as a captain, Major Campbell demonstrated versatility in various divisions. He was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, where he took on roles as the Street Crimes Section Commander, overseeing the Strategic Investigations Squad and Robbery Unit. Additionally, he served as an Area Commander of Mid Beach within the Patrol Division. In the Support Services Division, Major Campbell held a commanding role as the unit commander of the Payroll Unit, Background and Recruitment Unit, Special Event Office, Training Unit, Property & Evidence Unit, and the grant manager.
In 2018, Major Campbell served as the commander of the Training Unit. His leadership skills were also showcased in 2016 when he commanded the Property Crimes Squad, Economic Crimes Unit, and established the Burglary Apprehension Team. Major Campbell has been a member of the Miami Beach Police Department since 2005.
Educationally, Major Campbell holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management. He is a distinguished graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course and the Senior Management Institute for Police. Additionally, he is an active member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.
