Storm Recovery Important Information

On Wednesday evening, November 15, our city experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds with combined higher-than-normal tides.

If you come across any debris or flooding that obstructs access to public or private property, please call 305.673.7625, report it through the Miami Beach e-Gov app or email flooding@miamibeachfl.gov.

Power Outages

Please report all power outages and downed/damaged power lines to Florida Power & Light (FPL) by calling 1.800.4OUTAGE (1.800.468.8243). Do not call Miami Beach Police or Fire to report power outages.

Many areas throughout our city are experiencing power outages. Some traffic signals may be affected. Please use caution when driving, walking or biking. Avoid standing water and treat intersections as an all-way-stop if traffic signals are out.

Free Yard Waste Pickup

Our Sanitation team is working with waste hauler partner Waste Connections to offer free yard waste pickup beginning Friday, November 17 for Miami Beach residents in single-family homes and buildings with 8-units or less.

Residents can leave all yard waste including tree limbs, branches, palm fronds and other debris from the storm in piles in the swale area to be picked up. Please leave debris in loose piles—do not place it in garbage bags.

Floodwater Safety Tips

Our Public Works team is out in the community responding to reports of flooding as quickly as possible and removing debris from streets and sidewalks. Residents should still exercise caution when leaving their home. In addition to our existing stormwater infrastructure, which includes 48 permanent pump stations, Public Works has temporary pump stations deployed in low-lying areas. Be sure to have flood insurance for your home or business. Learn more.
Avoid coming into contact with floodwaters. There may be hazards like pollutants and debris that are not visible.
Avoid driving through floodwaters for your safety and to avoid vehicle damage.
Wash your car, including the undercarriage, if it comes in contact with floodwaters. Floodwaters are high in salinity and could damage your vehicle.
