Areas of Responsibility Include: Finance, Customer Service Center, Grants Management, Education and Performance Initiatives, and the Office of Management & Budget. Jason also oversees the Finance and Economic Resiliency Committee.
Jason D. Greene, CGFO, CFE, CPFIM has over two decades of local and special district governmental experience in South Florida and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the City of Miami Beach. Jason is a long-time resident of Miami Beach and had been a member of the City's General Obligation Bond Committee, serving has Vice Chair. Jason has a Bachelor's in Environmental Toxicology, a Master's in Business Administration, and a Master's in Civil Engineering.
Jason has extensive knowledge in budgeting and financial planning including multi-year capital planning, bond financing and debt management, annual financial audit preparation and comprehensive accounting functions. Prior to his government roles, Jason worked in engineering consulting with an emphasis on civil/environmental engineering and capital improvement project management. His project management experience included scheduling, cost analysis, project cash flows, and forecasts.
Further, Jason is a member of and has served on Boards and Committees for the national Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA), currently serving on the GFOA Executive Board, and is a member of the International City/County Manager's Association, the Florida City/County Manager's Association, the Miami-Dade City/County Manager's Association, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada, and the Institute for Internal Controls. He has obtained Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Public Funds Investment Manager (CPFIM), and Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA) certifications.
Prior to joining the City of Miami Beach, Jason worked for several years as a consulting engineer on large infrastructure improvement programs primarily with the Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department. While working on these programs shifted from engineering to program controls, budgeting, and cost estimating. Served for 16+ years after being brought in-house by the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority and “switched sides” from Engineering to Finance, holding positions of Controller and finally Financial Controls & Budget Manager. He also worked in our neighboring community of Surfside from 2019 through 2022 lastly as Assistant Town Manager/CFO.
