G.O. Bond #45 - Fire Station #1
The 2018 GO bond funded new Fire Station No. 1 project shall be located at 833 6 Street. The centralized location, within the South Beach area, allows for expanded emergency coverage and reduced response times throughout the high-impact district.
The new 29,309 sf facility will include an enclosed apparatus bay with (4) drive-thru lanes to house emergency vehicles during storms with secured parking underneath for fire fighters / staff, dorms, activity rooms, and a watch office. Public on-street parking will be maintained along 6 street with (14) additional parking spaces provided in public surface parking lot P-11 at the North side of the lot.
The building will also display the Apollo Mural by artist Jack Stewart along the West Façade of the building adjacent to Jefferson Ave. The new Fire Station will meet LEED Gold certification requirements.
