Miami Beach Presents “Filmed on the Beach”
(Miami Beach, FL) Aug 15, 2019 -
From the infamous chainsaw scene from Scarface filmed on Ocean Drive to the craze of Beatlemania hitting the USA in North Beach, the City of Miami Beach has been the backdrop for some of the world’s favorite motion pictures and most iconic scenes.
Showcasing its decorated history of film and industry, the city recently launched a digital film tour webpage featuring an in-depth look at the movies and shows shot on the urban island through the years.
“We want our residents to better connect to our city’s history as well as inspire future filmmakers to follow in some of the famous footsteps,” noted Director of Tourism & Culture Matt Kenny. “The interactive tool will be monumental in doing so and reminding individuals why Miami Beach was, and still remains, a cultural icon on the silver screen.”
Via the “Filmed on the Beach” portal, users can immerse themselves in local film history by scrolling through key points of the city and becoming better acquainted with the location and its significance in film. To begin your star-studded tour, click here.
To continue its history of large-scale and local film work, the city’s Film Production Grant Program awards generous grants to at least nine feature films, music videos, television shows, documentaries, short films and even web series who choose to shoot along the sand and sun. ABC Studios hit TV series Grand Hotel marked the first recipient of the city’s film incentive program. To apply, click here.
