FREE Flu Shots at Miami Beach Public Schools
(Miami Beach, FL) Sep 14, 2020 -
The CDC continues to recommend a yearly flu shot as the most important step in preventing influenza infections. As such, the City of Miami Beach is partnering with Borinquen Medical Centers, Miami-Dade County Public Schools and The Children’s Trust to provide free flu vaccines to students in all six Miami Beach public schools from Saturday, September 26 through Wednesday, September 30, 2020.
“As we face an unprecedented pandemic in COVID-19, getting a flu vaccine this fall is more important than ever,” said Mayor Dan Gelber. “Everyone should heed the counsel of the CDC to get their flu shot and do their part to keep themselves, their family, and their community healthy.”
The flu shot will be available during after-school hours and on the weekend starting on Saturday, September 26. Administered by Borinquen Medical Centers, the city’s public-school health provider, there will be a $0 copay with a consent form that must be returned to the school before scheduling an appointment. Please contact the schools for consent forms.
Participating schools include Miami Beach Senior High School, Miami Beach Nautilus Middle School, Miami Beach Fienberg Fisher K-8, Miami Beach South Pointe Elementary, North Beach Elementary and Biscayne Beach Elementary.
“The City of Miami Beach has committed $15,000 to make sure our kids who need a flu shot have free access to it,” added Miami Beach Commissioner Mark Samuelian. “We want our community to be prepared during this challenging flu season.”
