All Miami Beach Parks Become Vape-Free

(Miami Beach, FL) Oct 16, 2019 -

According to recent empirical studies and widespread news reports, the use of nicotine vaporizers (electronic cigarettes) has skyrocketed to alarming popularity across the nation, particularly among the nation’s youth. As the fundamental purpose of a municipal government is to protect the health, safety and general welfare of its residents and visitors — the City of Miami Beach is prohibiting the smoking of nicotine vaporizers or similar products throughout the city’s parks.

“Nicotine has documented detrimental health effects, especially on adolescents, and e-cigarettes are rapidly becoming an emerging health care crisis in our schools and have no place in our parks,” said Mayor Gelber.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has recently reported a direct link between vaping and lung disease, which have resulted in at least two deaths. There are still many unknown destructive side effects concerning e-cigarettes, including what chemicals are utilized in the vaping substance and how they affect physical health over a long-term period of time.

The smoking of tobacco products is already banned at all city parks and signage will modified to notify the public of the vaping prohibition.
