Miami Beach to Celebrate José Martí Legacy

Miami Beach, FL – The City of Miami Beach and its Hispanic Affairs Committee will honor the birth of Cuban national hero José Martí on Monday, January 27 at 4 p.m. This special ceremony, held near the José Martí monument at 21 Street and Collins Avenue, will celebrate the enduring legacy of Martí’s contributions to freedom, independence and human rights, which continue to inspire Latin Americans more than a century after his death.
“José Martí is a symbol of patriotism who made the ultimate sacrifice for liberty,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “He’s an inspiration to not just Cubans, but everyone fighting for justice.”
This event offers older generations a chance to reflect on Martí’s life and accomplishments, while providing younger generations an opportunity to learn about his historical impact.
Cafecito and pastelitos, courtesy of the Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department, will be served at the end of the event.
