The rich tradition of Klezmer music comes alive as Berlin Philharmonic concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley leads and performs alongside NWS String Fellows in this special pre-season concert. Labeled Entartete (Degenerate) by the Nazis, Gideon Klein wrote his Partita as a Jewish prisoner 10 days before he was sent to Auschwitz-Berkenau. Though Klein lost his life, the work survived—smuggled out of the Terezín camp and hidden for half a century—now revealing the power of the human spirit and resilience of those confined.
Pay what you wish! Whether you pay $10 or $100 dollars, every ticket you buy supports NWS Fellows, the future leaders of our art form, as they use music to change the world
This concert is part of Resonance of Remembrance, a season-long series commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the Holocaust. More information at www.nws.edu/peace.
