Based in Bogota, Meridian Brothers is a psychedelic salsa-infused neo-tropicalista group that delivers an avant-garde musical experience. Founder Eblis Álvarez launched the group in 1998 as a musical laboratory, from his roots with the ephemeral Ensamble Polifónico Vallenato project. The group had been experimenting with traditional Colombian music (vallenato, cumbia, palenquero, gaita) for modern ears. The opening set features DJ Krishna Villar. The event is free, presented by Rhythm Foundation and Tigre Sounds as part of the Tigre Global Sounds Series, which has begun introducing innovative artists from Latin America and beyond to Miami audiences.
