Basic Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training
If you are interested in volunteering with the City of Miami Beach in any capacity (following a disaster or not) you are required to complete the CERT training course.
CERT training is offered as a series of classes that total 24 hours, including a simulated disaster drill. Completion of all modules is necessary to obtain certification.
Topics include the following:
- Hazard Identification & Disaster Preparedness
- Response Team Organization and Communication
- Fire Safety and Suppression
- Light Search and Rescue
- Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Terrorism Awareness
- Disaster Psychology and Emotional Impacts
- Comprehensive Final Drill
