The Division of Emergency Management is providing the Basic Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training.
CERT is a national training program under FEMA. We educate volunteers about disaster preparedness for hazards which may occur in their area. CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event until professional responders arrive. In Miami Beach, our goal is to train our residents, businesses, teens, City employees, faith-based and other individuals and organizations who wish to be a positive asset. Skills taught are:
Disaster Preparedness;
1. CERT Organization;
2. Disaster Medical Operations/Stop-The-Bleed;
3. Disaster Psychology;
4. Fire Safety and Utility Control;
5. Light Search and Rescue; and
6. CERT and Terrorism.
CERT training is 24 hours, 8 hours online and 16 hours in-class. If interested in this training please email Irene Valines at CERT@miamibeachfl.gov.
