Efforts to raise and replace sections of seawalls are steps toward achieving a more resilient waterfront for our city as a whole. Seawalls with higher elevations will help mitigate the bigger picture effects of tidal flooding and rising sea levels. While the city provides information and incentives to private property owners to raise and replace their seawalls, we are simultaneously working to raise and replace the public sections of seawall throughout the city.

A new seawall is being constructed along Indian Creek Drive between 41 and 29 streets. The contractor commenced construction near 41 Street and is working south.

This project phase is expected to be complete by the Summer of 2023. Construction work hours are weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Extended time is subject to city approval and community notification. Please keep in mind that this schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
