The City of Miami Beach will implement the Flamingo Park Neighborhood Slow Streets 2.0 Plan in coordination with Miami-Dade County and the community. This work will build on the plans that were started in 2020 as part of the first version of Slow Streets and the City’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
The effort focuses on creating low-stress streets for people walking and biking through low-cost traffic calming measures. Phase 1 of this plan will reflect the lessons learned from the first iteration including feedback from the community. The work will focus on Jefferson Avenue between 5 Street and 11 Street, and 13 Street between Washington Avenue and Meridian Avenue.
The project team is analyzing the corridors and identifying potential traffic-calming project types that could be implemented such as curb extensions, bike lanes, delineators, signage, and asphalt art. By transforming the selected streets into “Slow Streets," the project aims to enhance neighborhood connectivity, encourage physical activity, and improve safety and overall quality of life for residents and visitors.
