SMART Plan Beach Corridor

LEEDing The Way In Miami Beach

The City of Miami Beach has achieved the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for its sustainability initiatives.

The Green Building Ordinance

Requires new construction over 7,000 square feet or ground floor additions to existing structures that encompass more than 10,000 square feet of additional floor area to be LEED Gold certified or Living Building Challenge certified.

Green Spaces

The City of Miami Beach is reforesting select neighborhoods through the G.O. Bond program. This voter-led initiative includes a citywide reforestation project that will plant trees within rights-of-way (ROW), parks and greenspaces.

Natural Resources Management

The Environmental Division is tasked with protecting, restoring and managing the city’s natural resources and executing projects that improve the health of our habitats (beaches, dunes, mangroves, and waterways).
