MESSAGE FROM THE CITY ATTORNEY - APRIL 2013I take this opportunity to announce a very significant federal court victory in a controversial case involving alleged discrimination and retaliation claims from a female firefighter in the City of Miami Beach.
My “Commission Memorandum”, along with the Judge’s decision, is attached for the public to review. Marlenis Smart v. City of Miami Beach Despite what has been written in a local tabloid publication, and misinformed bloggers, the City of Miami Beach neither discriminated against nor retaliated against this employee or any other employee. Such behavior is not tolerated by the City.
I would like to recognize Chief Deputy City Attorney Donald Papy, Senior Assistant City Attorney Rob Rosenwald and outside counsel Susan Potter Norton for their excellent work in this case.
